Folders

A folder is a list of articles that can be freely assembled from different search results.

The Folders page displays the articles collected in one or several personal folders, sorted in a descending order by date, either in a list or a gallery. Folders can be renamed, sent to other users with a comment, or deleted.

You can select one, several or all articles to print or save them. Selected articles can furthermore be removed from a folder.

Articles

Browsing

If a folder holds more than the maximum number of articles to be displayed on one page, you can browse them by clicking the arrow symbols previous page / next page.

Alternatively, click a page number to access the respective page.

The maximum number of articles per page can be defined in the Settings.

Selecting

Activate one or several checkboxes of the folder to select the respective articles.

To select all articles displayed on the current page, click select all on this page.

To select all articles of the current folder, click select all #.

The selected articles are highlighted and can also be recognized by the activated checkbox.

Deselecting

Click deselect all to remove the selection of all articles of the folder.

The highlighting of the selected articles is removed, and the checkboxes are deactivated.

Printing and saving

To print or save selected articles, click print or save.

The Print/Save hit list dialog is displayed.

Choose whether you want to print or save the selected articles in the form of a List of titles or as Full text. In both cases you can choose whether or not you want to Add metadata.

Please note that you can print or save a maximum of 1,000 titles or full texts at one go.

For saving full texts with attachments, in the Image/Other attachments area, you can define the format you want to use for the attachments. Together with the full texts, they will be saved to a ZIP file.

In the lower part of the dialog, choose the text size. Here you can also define whether or not you want to highlight search terms.

Click the button for printing or saving the list of titles or the full texts. The button indicates how many titles or full texts will be printed.

Removing and filing

Removing Click remove to remove the selected article(s) from the respective folder.
Filing Click file to add the selected article(s) to a different folder. Choose an existing folder from the list or click New folder to add the article(s) to a folder still to be named. You can use this method to copy articles from one folder to another.

Receiving folders

Folders can be sent from one user to another.

If you are logged in to the AOMweb, the Receive new folder dialog is displayed as soon as you receive the folder. Otherwise the dialog is displayed at your next login.

Comments added by the sender are also displayed.

Accepting To accept a folder, click save.
Discarding To discard a folder, click discard.
Renaming Folders can also be renamed and saved with the name you enter.
Cancelling

If you neither want to accept nor discard the folder, click CLOSE . The dialog will again be displayed at your next login.

Display options

You can display articles from a folder in the form of a list or a gallery.

By default, they are displayed in the form of a list. To view them in the form of a gallery, activate the Gallery checkbox in the upper part of the page.

List

Each line of the list holds one article that belongs to the current folder.

The following data is displayed:

Date The first column indicates the article’s date of creation/publication. If it is relevant, the time is also indicated.
Article The second column indicates the article’s title, the source as well as the keywords. The title is linked to the respective article text. Click a title to display the respective article text. All articles that you have already opened in full text are displayed in a lighter colour in the list.
Attachments The third column shows attachments belonging to the article. This can either be a preview (for pictures) or the symbol (e.g. for PDF files). Click the preview or the symbol to open the article and view its content.
Subject to charges

Any content that is subject to charges is marked with the euro symbol .

Move the mouse pointer over the symbol to display a tooltip with the charges for accessing the article text and/or the attachment.

Gallery

Each gallery cell represents one article belonging to the current folder.

To select an article, activate the respective checkbox in the bottom right corner of the cell.

The following data is displayed:

Preview The preview either shows a thumbnail of the article or a placeholder.
Caption The caption of the preview consists of a part of the article’s title.

The preview image as well as the caption are linked to the respective article text.

Click the preview or the caption to open the article and display its content.

Tooltip When you move the mouse pointer over a gallery cell, a tooltip displays the source as well as the article’s full title.
Downloading attachments To download attachments (low-res and high-res or PDF/HTML) and the article text in PDF format in one ZIP file, click the text next to the symbol .
Subject to charges Any content that is subject to charges is marked with the euro symbol that is displayed next to the checkbox. Move the mouse pointer over the symbol to display a tooltip with the charges for accessing the article text and/or the attachment.

Buttons and links

Create To create a new and empty folder, enter a folder name in the text field New folder in the Folder area and click create.

To rename, send or delete a folder, click the respective link or image in the Folder area.

Choose one of the following:

Rename

Click Rename if you want to change the name of the folder.

The Rename folder dialog is displayed.

Enter the new folder name and confirm by clicking ok.

Send

Click Send to send the folder to another user.

The Send folder dialog is displayed.

Enter the user name of the recipient.

Optionally, enter a comment.

Optionally, activate the Notify the recipient by e-mail if not logged in to AOM checkbox.

Click send to send the folder.

Delete

Click the symbol to delete a folder you no longer need.

The Delete folder dialog is displayed.

Confirm that you want to delete the folder by clicking ok.
